While he heads one of Long Island’s most prolific homebuilding companies for his day job, Michael Dubb’s mane passion is earning him plenty of accolades.
A principal of Jericho-based Beechwood Organization, Dubb won the racing owner’s title for the 2016 meet at Saratoga Race Course last weekend, the third year in a row he has took the top honors there. Dubb’s thoroughbreds made 13 trips to the winner’s circle at the venerable upstate track this summer, including a repeat win for his horse Royal Posse in the $100,000 Evan Shipman Stakes.
Dubb, a New York Racing Association board member, has interests in 80 racehorses, including some with residential-development-appropriate names like Condo Commander and Bishops Pond, named after Beechwood’s 79-residence community in Southampton.
Closer to home, Dubb was also named the leading owner at Belmont Park’s spring meet this year with 12 victories. He has been the leading thoroughbred owner on the NYRA circuit overall in four of the last five years.
