Jesse Schenker, a two-time James Beard Award-nominee chef, and Claudia Taglich, his partner at Lush Life Group, are joining forces with real estate developers Michael Dubb and Steven Dubb of The Beechwood Organization, to launch a new restaurant, The Comet Club, this spring at 990 Corporate Drive in Westbury.
Located within the Vanderbilt, Beechwood’s luxury apartment and hotel residence, The Comet Club positions itself as a new dining destination, combining Beechwood’s track record in high-end development with Lush Life Group’s culinary and hospitality expertise.
The Comet Club combines design elements inspired by New York’s Gilded Age and the Miami and Havana cocktail lounges of the 1920s. The menu features coastal dishes, raw bar selections, prime cuts and continental offerings, with cocktail service and tableside preparation. The multi-room layout includes a 12-seat bar, piano lounge, dining room, seasonal patio and private event space.
While the restaurant emphasizes high-end design, the menu centers on quality ingredients and approachable offerings, including house-baked breads. Menu items include house-made sourdough focaccia with Parmigiano Reggiano, prime ribeye French dip with bone marrow–enhanced au jus on a house-made baguette, and dry-aged roasted duck fajitas on house-made masa tortillas with salsa macha.
And with a nod to The Comet, the stylish mid-20th-century rail service known for its elegant dining, dessert carts and trolleys will circulate nightly with rotating pies, cakes and seasonal selections.
New York–based architecture and interior design studio Sugarhouse designed the 5,000-square-foot space for The Comet Club. The studio’s co-principals Jess and Jonathan Nahon developed a multi-room layout, incorporating a textured color palette, warm finishes and plant-inspired accents. The details and lighting are intended to reference the golden age of rail travel, while supporting both private and communal dining experiences. The result suggests a classic supper club with a contemporary, relaxed vibe.
The Comet Club will be open to the public seven nights for dinner, with early evening bar service available starting at 4 p.m. Dinner will be served nightly starting at 5 p.m. – Sunday until 9 p.m., Monday-Thursday until 9:30 p.m. and Friday-Saturday until 10 p.m. Lunch and brunch service will be added soon.
